“Utopenci” is based on the diaries and works of M.A. Bulgakov, a prominent Russian writer who spent his entire life fighting against the repression of the Stalinist regime.

The production aims to address the position of intellectuals and artists in a society that succumbs to fascist rhetoric, incites fear and aggression, and curtails free thought. The play is set in the near future. It employs black humor, the grotesque, and the absurdity of the era, with motifs inspired by M.A. Bulgakov himself.
